These HITC members sell and support software that receives
data from telephone calls. Typically, your employee,
such as a home health aide, nurse or therapist, calls
an 800 number from a patients home. The computer
uses Caller ID to detect that the call is actually coming
from that address and compares the time, date, and call-in
location with the company visit schedule. The employee
enters a personal identification number and then completes
the visit. Afterward, he or she places another call
and records activities performed, using the telephone
keypad. Some companies offer their telephony software
as a standalone product. Others sell it only to users
of their back office billing application.
